How will we live in the future? How will we get around, and what will our economies look like? Regional cooperation between cities, their surrounding regions and rural areas plays a decisive role in answering these questions and can make an important contribution to sustainable development. At the European level, the Territorial Agenda and the Leipzig Charter 2020 are setting new standards. The URP2020 conference in Leipzig on 25 to 27 November will develop new concepts for urban-rural partnerships that ensure resilient and sustainable development. Scientific findings and practical experiences need to be linked together to achieve this aim. This is why Germany's Federal Minister of Research Anja Karliczek has become the patron of this conference.
