In the series of conferences on “Pluralism and Responsibility. Media in the Digital Society”, media players from all over Europe look at current challenges facing the European media landscape and discuss possibilities for shaping it in the future.
Based on its academic research accompanying the digital conference series during the German Presidency of the Council of the EU, the session of the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) will highlight challenges and incoherencies of the current EU media order. From this starting point, visions of a more coherent and sustainable EU communication order will be developed and discussed. The central question is whether and where there is a need for more extensive regulation and to what extent existing regulatory concepts can be tailored to meet the new challenges.
