From 22 December 2020 to 15 January 2021, Faces Of Europe will be presented to a “moving” audience at Europe’s largest crossroads, the Central Station in Berlin (ground level, middle bridge, Europaplatz 1), and at Berlin's Ostbahnhof (entrance hall, right side, Koppenstr. 3) on an indoor event floor on a large-format exhibition box. With disarming and honest portraits that allow us to look deeply into the people depicted, Carsten Sander has captured the beauty and dignity of strangers. Freedom has a home in Europe. Our future lies in tireless attempt to learn from one another through diversity and openness, to help and enrich each other.
German photo artist Carsten Sander has embarked on a extraordinary journey through all 27 EU Member States. His mission is to take one thousand portraits of Europeans of different ethnic and social backgrounds, rich and poor, young and old. He depicts celebrities, athletes, politicians, chance encounters on the street, side by side, all on equal terms. 1000 faces of the European Union – an impressive demonstration of European sentiment and a tribute to peaceful coexistence, tolerance and shared values.
